Best of Oxford Gardens 117 / Oxford 2011/ Nikon D90
Ive kept away from the Oxford garden series for a while as i tend to lose touch with the city,its streets and people.Still ive done that and now got out to explore some other places and the scenery,if you know what i mean !! Ive come across some new areas like Rose Hill and Littlemore which are interesting but are a bit too tidy, unlike the Ridgefield Road estate which currently reigns supreme. I did make a fleeting visit to Cricket Road and found some serious disorder round the back of the empty Shelly Arms,i managed to get decent snaps too!!

The Best of Oxfords Gardens is a photographic record of the quirky the abandoned, untidy,eccentric, and unkempt, interesting collections of junk and the occasional zen thing in and around the City of Oxford.Its also a statement about the loss of pride which once flourished in this area,if you look hard enough you may still find it,but its rare. Its also looking at the contrasts between the inner and outer areas of the city and of course the cultural differnces. These places trigger my emotions,some days i laugh out loud with what i see and other days i shake my head in despair As a photographer i get drawn back time and time again searching for reason and inner beauty amongst all the chaos.

Wow, quite a lot to look through here. Nice work. I like to see people recording the mundane and ugly as well as the exciting and beautiful. There is a touch of zen about the wooden chair just outside the 'bog'. I can imagine some gentle contemplation taking place there, just after having grafittid the door.

Thanks for your comment Bill.I like reality and whats out there and the things people generally dont want to see or think exists. Ive always believed that in photography if you can make the uninteresting interesting then i think you may be getting somewhere. If i were a graffiti artist i wouldnt have hung around to think about it lol!!
